Luke Simard

Luke Simard joined CTV Barrie in April 2025 as a video journalist. Prior to his role in Barrie, Luke was the on-the-go reporter for CTV Morning Live Saskatchewan. Born in Kingston Ontario, Luke moved to Saskatchewan in 2021 to pursue broadcast journalism. With a passion for sports, Luke knew he wanted to pursue broadcasting from a young age. In 2020, he graduated from the Centennial College’s Sports Journalism program in Toronto and began his career working for the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League as the media relations manager before joining the CTV News Barrie operations team. During his brief stint at CTV Barrie, Luke learned a variety of skills including camera shooting, playback editing, technical directing and directing. Most recently, he was a videojournalist at CTV Yorkton before joining the CTV News Regina team in the same role. Luke considers himself a generalist when it comes to reporting, however he particularly enjoys finding the human stories within sports. When he is not reporting you can find Luke doing a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, tennis and playing hockey
