The boutique automaker once known as Gumpert has re-emerged from bankruptcy as Apollo, thanks to a new Hong Kong-based investor; and it’s just unveiled its first new supercar model, the Arrow, at the Geneva Motor Show.
Founder Roland Gumpert is still running the company, and his latest creation is closely based on his old Gumpert Apollo, though now the car’s Audi-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is expected to make 1,000 horsepower and 740 lbs-ft of torque.
That should help the Arrow fly through the gears and on its way up to 100 km/h from zero in a predicted 2.9 seconds; top speed is, theoretically, 360 km/h (220 mph).
The curvy bodywork is, of course, also totally unlike the old Gumpert’s, which featured side intakes and exhaust vents defined by straight lines.
Apollo will churn Arrows out of a new factory in Germany, but says it will only make 100 examples. Pricing has not yet been disclosed.
