The Royal Canadian Navy is advising the public it will conduct boat exercises and training drills in Prince Edward Island later this week.

HMCS Queen Charlotte will host the large-scale small boat exercises in Charlottetown and Wood Islands from Friday to Sunday.

The Navy says the exercise, called SCARLET SURGE, will involve more than 100 sailors from across Canada. Soldiers from 33 Field Ambulance and 37 Service Battalion will also take part.

The public can expect to see sailors and soldiers conducting the drills, including simulated first-aid scenarios and small boat operations.

Activities will be restricted to Charlottetown Harbour on both Friday and Sunday.

A simulated first-aid scenario will take place in Wood Islands Harbour from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Community members are invited to attend.

“The impact to the community is low, however we would like to advise that there will be more activity within both Charlottetown and Wood Islands Harbour during these dates,” says Lieutenant (Navy) Spencer Lee in a Wednesday news release.
