A teacher in Yarmouth, N.S., has been charged for the alleged sexual assault of a youth.
The RCMP says it received a report of a sexual assault involving a teacher and a youth victim on March 4.
They allege a teacher at Maple Grove Education Centre had inappropriate contact with a former student the month before.
Police say the female teacher was on leave at the time of the incident.
Officers arrested Tina Lee Cottreau of Yarmouth on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old has been charged with:
- sexual assault
- sexual interference
- sexual exploitation
Cottreau was released on conditions. She is scheduled to appear at Yarmouth provincial court on May 12.
Police say their investigation is ongoing. They do not believe there are other victims at this time.
The RCMP says it has also confirmed Cottreau is still on leave from her job.
