Police say there are counterfeit $100 bills circulating the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

Cape Breton Regional Police is reminding retailers to be diligent when accepting cash due to the presence of counterfeit $100 bills circulating the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

The force says it’s received 10 reports from retailers over the last week who have identified the counterfeit bills used for purchases.

Police say the bills look and feel authentic. However, after closer inspection, some contain the words “prop money” within the hologram. Others have a peel-off hologram sticker on top, according to a news release from police.

Police say the counterfeit bills also share a common serial number of GJR6710018.
