Police are investigating after a man with a gunshot wound was dropped off at a hospital in Dartmouth, N.S., Wednesday night.

Halifax Regional Police say the man was unconscious when he was dropped off at the front door of the Dartmouth General Hospital around 9:30 p.m.

The 23-year-old is now in stable condition.

Police say their investigation is in the early stages.

Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted incident and not a broad threat to the general public.

“There is no evidence to suggest this incident is connected to the shooting in Dartmouth on Sunday morning,” said Const. Martin Cromwell in a Thursday news release from Halifax Regional Police.

A 30-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were shot in the area of Lahey Road and Clarence Street just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

The man died in hospital and the woman’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have ruled the man’s death a homicide.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about either shooting to call them at 902-490-5020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
