P.E.I. man charged with impaired driving after woman killed in crash in January

A 74-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving causing death after a 70-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Clinton, P.E.I., in January.

Prince District RCMP responded to the single-vehicle collision on Route 6 around 4:35 p.m. on Jan. 1.

Police say an SUV left the road and ended up in the ditch.

The female passenger died at the scene. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and hospitalized with serious injuries.

Following an investigation, James B. Andrew of Stanley Bridge, P.E.I., has been charged with one count of impaired driving causing death and one count of impaired driving over 80 mg causing death.

Andrew is due to make his first court appearance in Charlottetown provincial court on June 23 at 1 p.m.
