Nova Scotia RCMP charged 55 drivers with stunting from October to December 2024.
RCMP released statistics on stunting charges for the three-month period on “a number of highways across the province” in a Monday news release.
RCMP said the charges resulted from 25 incidents in October, 12 in November and 18 in December, which included:
- 182 Km/h in a 100 Km/h zone on Hwy. 105 in South Haven
- 197 Km/h while driving in Yarmouth (the newly licensed driver was drinking alcohol behind the wheel)
- 166 Km/h in a 100 Km/h zone on Hwy. 125 in Point Edward (newly licensed driver)
The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,442.50 for a first offence, six points on your licence and an immediate seven-day licence suspension.
Anyone driving a motor vehicle 50 km/h faster than the posted speed limit can be charged with stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.
