N.S. police arrest man in Vancouver for alleged human trafficking

Police arrested a man in Vancouver for alleged human trafficking in Nova Scotia.

The Nova Scotia Human Trafficking Unit arrested and charged a man in Vancouver for alleged offences that spanned multiple years.

The unit says it received a report from a human trafficking victim in July 2023. The victim was a youth when the offences began.

Throughout the investigation, officers learned about a second victim. The offences happened between 2017 and 2023 when the accused and the victims were in Nova Scotia.

Officers travelled to British Columbia and arrested Simon McNamee, 31, on Feb. 22, 2025. He was taken back to Nova Scotia and charged with 17 offences, including:

-receiving material benefit from sexual services

-procuring a person under 18

-advertising sexual services

-trafficking in persons

McNamee, who appeared in court on Feb. 26, was released on conditions pending future court dates.
