Man charged for violent break-in at Halifax home

A 39-year-old man is facing several charges for an alleged violent break-in at a Halifax home last Friday.

Officers responded to a break and enter at a residence on the 3200 block of Heinish Avenue around 5:50 p.m., according to a news release from Halifax Regional Police. They learned a man had entered the home, attacked two residents and fled the area on foot.

Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested the suspect around 6:10 p.m.

Douglas James Roy Schrader is facing charges of:

-assault with a weapon

-two counts of robbery with violence

-two counts of assault

-two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm

-possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace

-two counts of failure to comply with a probation order
