Man arrested for pointing firearm at woman after East Hants crash: N.S. RCMP

A man was arrested Wednesday after police say he pointed a firearm at a woman following a crash in Nine Mile River.

East Hants District RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 14 near West Macphee Road just before 4 p.m.

The force received a second report of the same collision about 10 minutes later.

Police say the reports were from the two drivers involved in the collision.

It’s alleged a Hyundai Elantra and a Mazda CX-5, which were travelling in the same direction, collided in the 6300 block of Highway 14.

Police say the driver of the Elantra pointed a firearm at the driver of the Mazda CX-5 immediately after the collision.

A 40-year-old Greenfield woman who was driving the CX-5 drove away from the scene and called police, according to a news release from the RCMP.

The release says a 23-year-old man from Upper Rawdon who was driving the Elantra also called police to report the collision.

Police say they found both vehicles and arrested the man for pointing a firearm.

Two airsoft pistols were reportedly seized from the man’s vehicle. Police say one closely resembled a black handgun.

The man was later released from custody. He is scheduled to attend Shubenacadie provincial court on March 24.
