Man accused of damaging trees, decorative lighting in Cape Breton arrested

Police say a 25-year-old man wanted for vandalism in Sydney, N.S., last summer has been arrested.

A number of newly-planted trees and their decorative lighting were broken the morning of Aug. 11, 2024, on Charlotte Street.

The damage totaled more than $10,000, according to police.

Cape Breton Regional Police said in a news release last week they made several attempts to find the suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

In a Thursday morning update, police said Gregory Joseph Daisley has since been found and arrested.

He will face the following charges in Sydney provincial court:

- mischief (damage to property)

- breach of probation

- several breaches of previous court-ordered release conditions
