Sussex RCMP is asking for the public’s help in identifying two people involved in an attempted abduction in the Henderson Settlement, N.B., area.
Police received a report of a possible attempted abduction on Route 710 on Monday.
The force says around 5:15 p.m. that day, two people approached a child who was riding a bike and tried to lure them into their vehicle by offering candy.
The child ran to a neighbouring house, according to an RCMP news release.
“The two individuals left the scene in a black 4-door Subaru, possibly an Outback, with tinted windows, a sunroof and signs of rust on the front passenger bumper. The vehicle was travelling towards Cambridge-Narrows,” reads the news release.
Police describe the passenger in the vehicle as a man, possibly in his mid-30s, with a muscular build, goatee with no mustache, and curly hair.
At the time of the incident, the RCMP says he was wearing blue sunglasses and a green T-shirt with yellow on it.
The driver is described as a woman, with light-coloured shoulder-length curly hair.
Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching the description in the Henderson Settlement or Cambridge-Narrows areas on Monday.
The force is also asking anyone who has security camera or dash cam footage, or any information about the incident, to contact Sussex RCMP at 506-433-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
