RCMP arrest 6 people following drug investigation in Oromocto First Nation, N.B.

RCMP in New Brunswick arrested six individuals following a drug investigation in Oromocto First Nation, N.B.

Members of Oromocto RCMP and New Brunswick’s RCMP Emergency Response Team arrested five people at a residence on Waasis Road on Jan. 16 at approximately 5 a.m., said a Wednesday news release.

Police said they seized quantities of what is believed to be cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription medications, drug paraphernalia and cash while executing a search warrant at the residence on Waasis Road.

The individuals arrested are identified in the release as:

- A 48-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation, N.B.

- A 47-year-old man from Burton, N.B.

- A 34-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation, N.B.

- A 38-year-old man from Geary, N.B.

- A 40-year-old man from Oromocto, N.B.

Police later arrested a 40-year-old man from Oromocto First Nation without incident at a residence on Moccasin Lane in connection with the same investigation, said the release.

The 47-year-old man from Burton and the 40-year-old man from Oromocto First Nation remain in custody on unrelated matters, said police.

The 48-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation was released and will appear in court at a later date.

The 34-year-old woman from Oromocto First Nation, the 38-year-old man from Geary and the 40-year-man from Oromocto were released.

Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. The investigation remains ongoing.
