A 65-year-old motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle collision in Lawrencetown, N.S.

A 65-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in a two-vehicle collision in Lawrencetown, N.S.

The Halifax Regional RCMP, fire crews and EHS responded to the crash at the intersection of Lawrencetown Road and Gammon Lake Drive around 12:10 p.m. Monday.

Police say an Econoline van was travelling south on Gammon Lake Drive and a Yamaha motorcycle was travelling west on Lawrencetown Road when they collided.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. His name has not been released but police say he was from Three Fathom Harbour, N.S.

The driver of the van, a 59-year-old man from Westphal, N.S., was not injured.

Lawrencetown Road was closed to traffic for several hours. It reopened around 5 p.m.

Police say the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
