Man charged with manslaughter in death of missing New Brunswick woman

A New Brunswick man has been charged in connection to the death of a woman.

A New Brunswick man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a missing woman whose body was found in Maces Bay, N.B., last week.

The RCMP says 26-year-old Sarah Teakles was last seen in Musquash, N.B., on April 15 and reported missing that day.

The Major Crime Unit took over the investigation and, with the help of a K9 unit, police found the woman’s vehicle and body in Maces Bay on April 17.

Police say Teakles was from Rothesay, N.B.

On Monday, the RCMP arrested a 31-year-old man who was already in custody on unrelated matters after he was arrested by the Saint John Police Force.

Calvin Burns-Smith of Musquash has been charged with manslaughter and indignity to a dead body. He appeared in Saint John provincial court on Tuesday and was remanded into custody. He is due back in court on April 28 at 9:30 a.m.
