A Nova Scotia mom is the talk of her town after a picture drawn by her daughters was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Krista Rafferty’s zombie-like morning behaviour inspired her daughters, nine-year-old Gracie and six-year-old Ava, to create the picture.
The Glace Bay mom admits she’s somewhat of a ‘monster’ before she’s had her morning coffee.
“I don’t even want to talk. I just shuffle out of bed and go right to the coffee machine,” she says. “And I have two right away before I even start speaking.
The artwork may be less than flattering, but the Glace Bay mom is taking it all in good humour.
She thought the picture was so funny she sent it to The Ellen DeGeneres show, which she tapes daily.
When she saw the picture on an episode last week, she says she nearly spit out her coffee.
Her daughters say the drawing speaks for itself – their mom is simply a zombie when she gets out of bed.
“She walks out like ‘The Walking Dead!’” says Ava.
Those who know Rafferty say the girls painted an accurate picture.
“She has to have her makeup on, her hair done, and her first few cups of coffee before you can get around her anyway,” agrees friend Ainsley Burke-Pickup.
Rafferty’s friends have been sharing the Ellen video on the Internet and say she is having fun with her newfound celebrity.
“It’s been all over Facebook. Pretty well everyone that we know has seen it and has been calling her,” says Burke-Pickup. “She actually commented that the fame has gone to her head a little bit!”
While some people might be embarrassed, Rafferty says she proud of her girls’ talent and sense of humour.
“I’m more proud that it’s my kids that did it. If I have to be in it, I have to be in it I guess.”
