Man, 23, dies after vehicle hits power pole in Moncton

Man killed in Moncton crash A man is dead and another is seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash in Moncton, N.B.

One man is dead and another is seriously injured after a vehicle struck a power pole in Moncton, N.B., Friday morning.

The Codiac Regional RCMP, Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick all responded to the single-vehicle collision at the corner of Morton Avenue and Pascal Poirier Street around 1:30 a.m.

Police believe the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the street and struck a power pole. The 23-year-old man died at the scene.

His passenger, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Morton Avenue was closed between University Avenue and McLaughlin Drive for roughly two hours early Friday morning. It has since reopened.

Police say a collision reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
