Four people were treated for serious injuries following a head-on crash in Ottawa’s south end.
Emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle crash on Bank Street, north of Snake Island Road, near the village of Metcalfe just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The drivers of both vehicles were trapped due to the damage.
Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Nick DeFazio says when firefighters arrived on the scene, one vehicle was located on the eastbound shoulder of the road, and the second vehicle was on the west side of the road with the front end in the ditch.

Firefighters stabilized the two vehicles prior to beginning the extrication process to free the trapped drivers.
“Firefighters used specialized tools to completely remove both drivers' side doors on both vehicles where the drivers were pinned inside,” DeFazio said.
A third vehicle sustained damage after driving through the debris from the accident.
“Firefighters spread absorbent on the leaking fluids and disconnected the batteries on all the vehicles prior to clearing the scene,” DeFazio said.
The Ottawa Paramedic Service says three women and a man were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. Their injuries are considered non-life threatening.
