A Toronto woman who boogied with Bruce Springsteen in New York says her time on stage with The Boss was "like being with a friend."
Teri Walderman was called up on stage during the music icon's show in Rochester, N.Y., on Saturday night.
The real estate agent was seeing Springsteen for the third time on his current tour, having already been to his shows in Toronto and Pittsburgh.
Walderman, who has been a fan since 1975, was celebrating her 65th birthday with her 28-year-old son Sam.
In each show, Springsteen pulls a woman up on stage to recreate a moment in his 1984 music video for "Dancing in the Dark."
Walderman was standing in the audience, holding a sign that read: "65 today, let's dance."
Next to her, her son held up a similar sign.
They were approached by Springsteen, who picked up Sam's sign and held it up for the audience to read. He then pointed to Walderman and pulled her up on stage.
"We were like, 'Oh my God, this is happening," Walderman told CTV News Channel on Wednesday.
"It all goes away. You get up there and you get into the moment."'
She said she told Springsteen to look at the fans cheering his performance.
"These people come alive because of you," she told him, and he thanked her. She then asked where his saxophonist Jake Clemons was, knowing that it was his birthday too.
She spotted him at the back of the stage, then Springsteen had a crew member bring out a guitar so she could play with the band. Walderman said she didn't know how to play, but just mimicked Springsteen's moves.
"We just had the best time. Honestly, it was like being with a friend," she said.
The pair danced on stage, then he gave her a kiss and a hug then helped her off the stage.
"We just had so much fun."
